That's a nasty moment indeed. The red pyramids can be lowered by a Secret Teleporter Trigger hidden in a Brick Maze - it's surrounded by Red Brickz so it's not that hard to find it, though you'll have to time it right when entering. As it comes to the Scroller Grunt ... well, it seems the trial and error method is essential here. Sometimes you need to get hit after crossing a switch so the enemy stands on it when swinging, sometimes though you need to get hit when standing on a switch - then, when the enemy's stamina regenerates and if you're close enough , the enemy will step on the switch on his own. I found this CL really familiar ... now I know why. Victor has sent it to me in August 2009 for me to run some beta tests on it. Sadly I don't quite recall what did I do with it eventually, moreover it's likely for you to have an already updated version, although I'll see if my version of this CL is valid as well.

There are two different themes in each world and they are divided into an INTRO piece and an AMBIENT piece which comes right after the first one.

Personally I like puzzles which don't reassemble anything particular on the minimap - this way the designer focuses on the puzzles themselves, not on how to make them to create a picture once together. This way the puzzles are simply more ... appealing and more challenging. I don't like the sharp-edged ground tiles floating in the space ( without the transition tiles 104-139 ), I don't like the ditches that suddenly end without a reason ( I'm talking about tiles 40-73 ) ... maybe I am changing a fly into an elephant here, but these little things would really make me want to play one's level so much Those BehindCandiez are indeed cumbersome but not as irritating as one might think though this "Magic Shovel" trick is indeed unreal ... I mean in the terms of a Gruntzy realm of course I got PERFECT in the second playthrough. It was a little speed run, because I've finished it with a time of 28:55 Nice CL overall. Cheers

I didn't have in mind arguing over the level design, only the game elements 10. In my haste I forgot to put Zu's quote about diamonds Here it is: * Gems are a clever and nicely done addition. Though it would be nice if it was detailed how much of each type of gems we exactly collected, rather than having only general information about all gems. As you can see, I'm for the HUD they way it is now.

WapMap is the editor made by kijanek6 for the games like Claw, Gruntz and Get Mediaval. Unfortunately, it seems that it's not going to be for anything but Claw for a loong, looong time ( if at all ), and that's a pity. GruntzEdit is your only option for now.

The sound is not a problem here - the sign is itself. I don't care if the sound is played or not, I want the text to be displayed only when I want to, not every time I walk next to it. 2. Remember to add the ability to scroll a map with a mouse ( to be more precise: a pointer that is close to the edge of a screen ). 3. I couldn't make it to the first checkpoint for almost 30 minutes ... most of the times I died squashed by a rolling ball, by a raising pyramid, or simply got stuck. In all of the cases I had to restart a level. Too many silly deaths, too less checkpoints. Until the save/load feature actually sees the day light, I think I'll just ... wait till then. So yeah, I'm yet to finish the level. 4. Next thing are overlapping sounds. When you have a plenty of pyramids that are lowered at the same time, every instance of a pyramid requests the lowering sound to be played. Some of them do, but with a little delay ( few ms I guess ). It wasn't such a problem in original Gruntz to me, don't know why. 5. The idea of switches is to toggle state of a particular element on map. Lowering already raised pyramids, raising the bridges under water etc. I don't know why it's now the case with those "fog" switches. Some of these only hide a fog and if it's already hidden - they don't show up again when it's activated by another switch. I hope you get the point. 6. It would be handy if clicking anywhere on map cleared the selection of the already selected Gruntz. 7. The box selection method is not always working - the Grunt in order to get selected need to be entirely is the selection box, he doesn't get selected otherwise. 8. Now ... the fog itself. Regaining the control over Gruntz is a good idea. Too bad Gruntz can simply get stuck in a fog - the player would not be able to regain control over them until the fog gets hidden. Pretty annoying if you ask me. Is it supposed to happen? 9. I hope some kind of a minimap is going to arive in later releases? 10. The HUD displaying how many diamonds you collected has no point ... the checkpoints require some points from the total score, not a specific amounts of diamonds. Such statistics would be placed in the status page after the level is finished. Can't wait until the save/load feature is implemented! Cheers

Sorry, folkz who are not on the mailing list, but there are problemz with updating the Forum's web host, so the normal filez (WWD, Map imagez, Statz Page images, etc.) are not available for download. I have an open incident with GoDaddy, and hope to have the problem resolved soon. Continue to visit this thread, and when the for changez to you know you can acquire the puzzle. If there were any requests for a puzzle before resolving the hosting problem, I think the file would be hosted anywhere else - that's definitely not a problem.

Dead? No way. I'm checking on the forums every day ( since it's my ... web browser's home page ). Just this week I'm abroad. I'm not really into playing Custom Levels and therefore I don't comment on them that often. I design CLz when I feel like doing so - there's nothing worse than forcing yourself to do it. I guess that's all.

It's hard to look for the issues when the whole game is for demonstration purposes only ( so far ). In the latest version ( 1.5 ) I can't even get the Gruntz on map, so I cannot interact with it in any way ( am I doing something wrong? ). Glad you're back on it

If Gruntz is declared abandonware, is there any chance to be able to get the source code? Highly unlikely, since the game engine was used (and may still be used!) in so many other Monolith-distributed gamez. Gruntz is definitely 2D game based on sprites. Does Monolith create 2D games nowadays? I don't think so. IMO if the game was abandoned by the developers, so was the source code and that might complicate things a little.

I do realize you mean well, but it's definitely not a good idea to pack the game with all of this stuff - it'd lose its charm as a simple, ol'school game then and I don't want it to happen. 3D - that's fine with me, but I don't want you to overdose with this; it's easy to make it childish and pitiful ... too easy.
Tell you what - it's not such a bad idea providing a virtual file system. Fully customizable enemies, puzzle elements, items ... it's all really tempting. All events could be described then with LUA script. However these ideas of yours should not be included in the original version of G2 - it's too "aggressive" and would change the style of the original game once forever. That's why I think they should be addons - the designer can choose what things should be included within the level and he decides whether to add Laser Rifle and "Woodman's Kit" or not. And everyone's happy. The designers can even create new addons and features and share them - these could be stored in a big database, just like the one you've mentioned before. The addons can be arranged in groups, i.e. Haunted theme with scary puzzle elements, Space theme etc. Just a thought.
