CD-ROMz are not indestructible, it seemz, as several Gruntzerz have sobbed out their horror storiez of non-functioning Gruntz CD-ROMz. While I will not distribute the Gruntz CD for sale (I do not have licensing rightz), I will act as a resource for replacementz for damaged goodz. Requirementz: - PM me for a snail mail address
- Snail mail the original CD to me
- Package it in a protective mailer, with an enclosed protective mailer, self-addressed with proper postage affixed
- I will send back the original CD and a verified back-up copy (probably with the Gruntz CD image on a printable CD-ROM)
- add one United States dollar, and I will include the current Gruntz Extraz CD-ROM

Hi, all i have windows vista and can`t install Gruntz - any suggestion, whether there is a Gruntz CD for vista? Thanks Sunny I have Gruntz installed on my Vista-equipped laptop, and no problem at all ... but you may have a 64-bit microprocessor. The Gruntz installer doez not work on 64-bit machinez. That is the bad newz ... the good newz is that you may simply copy everything from the CD-ROM "by hand" to your computer's hard drive. All you then need the CD-ROM for is at load time, due to the protection scheme built into Gruntz. Once Gruntz is loaded, the CD-ROM may be removed, and you may use the drive for anything else you want to do. Unless you Quit Gruntz entirely, you will not need to re-insert the disc.

Correction: the game will run on 64-bit processors, but ONLY if you have a 32-bit operating system.

The CD is only required to start Gruntz ... once the game startz, you may remove the CD and put something else in its place.

But I don't have a Gruntz CD. May need to try and figure out a work-around. Edit: I tried tricking it by putting Gruntz into C:/GruntzCD but that didn't work. Does anyone know a workaround or something?

Damn. But this still doesn't explain why my 1.0 version worked without the CD. Edit: I'll just search around for Gruntz for the lowest price. Edit2: I realized I bought the game years ago on Realarcade. I'll try get my game there. Edit3: Yay it works!!! Since you got the game from RealArcade, it should be Version 1.10, and is equivalent to CD Version 1.01 (patched). Anyone who has a receipt for the downloadable version of Gruntz from RealArcade (and wantz the CD, for portability) may snail mail me a xerography copy (or the original) of the receipt along with $5.00 United States currency with a self-addressed postage-paid media mailer and I will send back the receipt along with a slimline case containing two CDz ... the Gruntz game at Version 1.0 and the Gruntz Extraz CD (with the 1.01 and other patchez, etc.).

i can`t change the resolutions to 1024x768 i have windows 7. is there a way to do it? i down loaded the registration path.but it dont work, the game crash, I am on Windows Vista (32 bit version) and cannot play the game in 1024X768 screen resolution ... all I can do with that is take a screen shot or two. I have browsed the internet with "Gruntz" as a search argument, and came across a site that claimed to have a downloadable version of Gruntz which worked under Windows 7 ... but did not take the time to see if that was in the highest resolution that was available under Windows XP. I did not record the URL, but can tell you that the site was over thirty screens into the Google resultz.

i tried to follow the registry instructions(computing vista ) but the game won`t have it. does it mean that i can`t play the game in the normal mode,? anymore The most frequent problem Gruntzerz have had on earlier versionz of Windows is that they go into the Gruntz Options after setting the registration for a higher screen resolution. Set optionz in Gruntz before you change the registry, and never go into Gruntz Options again. (Or if you have to do so for some reason, re-register the screen resolution patch.)

For those Gruntzerz using Windows Vista, I have (what I consider to be) very good newz for you! I just tried the suggestion posted earlier about using the XP version of the 1024X768 screen resolution patch, and installed that registration, then tested it by replaying Zu's newest release, "TestLabyrinth". It worked just fine! I turned off the Statz subscreen, and was able to zip through the puzzle in less than seven minutez! (That will also greatly speed up the process of creating "View the map!" game-time imagez ... so I will return to that project and deal with the larger mapz without such images, and their ThumbNailz.)

You're lucky then, because I use WinXP and for me, the game crashes whenever I try to open a level with 1024x768 patch on. It has always been that way, as far as I can tell. Thankfully, 800x600 version still works fine.

I am currently on a Windows 7 computer and wanted to use a WinXP 800x600 patch, but it doesn't seem to do anything anymore on this system... I remember that there was a Vista version linked somewhere, but I can't remember where. Help, please?
