Hi there! Although it might not look like it, I think that a lot of stuff happened while you were gone. Some time ago we finished two mega-collab custom levels, where many different designers took part: There was a period when many multiplayer games (Battlez) were being organized and played using GameRanger. Some of those games have been recorded by Theo ( Playlist Link), so you can watch and see how it looks like. There were also recordings by Zazor5000 (aka benadnam) but those had been deleted when he decided to leave the community. Zu had also sort of retired. Many other custom levels were also made, for example those: - Knight's Tour 6 (finished just 3 months ago, pretty big chessboard-styled level, but not extraordinarily difficult)
- The Glitch Level (cool little puzzle, I'd recommend it even if you don't play Custom Levels; it's kind of like playing a different game)

I discovered that I had this very old Quest from 2002 that has never been available (to my knowledge) anywhere! The basic puzzlez are from the original WWD... "The Snow Level" was one of the unfinished levels laying around on the web host. There's actually some more unreleased levels there, made by other designers from what I've seen, but each of those needs more work to finish it. Sometimes there's only 25% of the map (or less) filled in. The changes to this one were rather minor, so we gave you full credit.

Well, the difference would be that we'd pay them monthly to make sure they can maintain the servers which hold the files. Personally, I've only had experience with Google Drive, and even with the free account the files I'd uploaded years ago are still there. It's meant as an incentive to buy more storage from them.
However, I don't think Google Drive in particular would work for replacing our current web host, as it seems to randomize the links to shared files. We must keep the links organized to be able to translate existing content on the forum.

After some discussions, we came to the conclusion that the cheapest long-term solution would be to replace the current gooroosgruntz.info domain. Now that could be done in several ways: - Purchase the same domain from a different company (won't require link changes, but also gives smallest savings)
- Switch to a cheaper domain suffix (requires link changes, moderate savings)
- Abandon the domain altogether and switch to a simple file hosting service (requires link changes and a different approach to GLEM distribution, cheapest long-term option)
We believe it would actually not be a difficult thing to replace the gooroosgruntz.info references on the forum, as these could be transformed automatically using a Proboards plugin; we could also make a test to be sure. So it would probably be best to go for option 2 or 3. Using a file hosting without a domain would remove the yearly renewal cost altogether.

aren't everyone already using free Discord official Gruntz server lol? It would not make sense to host 20 years of forum history on a platform like Discord. It's more of an internet communicator, not suited for the format of content we have here. And since it's not meant to be a web hosting, I would be worried the files might expire after some time there. If you aren't paying for it, there's no guarantee.

That is an outrageous increase of costs! I think it would be a good time to research what our options are, regarding the change of GoDaddy for another hosting service provider.

I do know that there is another column besides the ones that show the (solver's) Gruntz, the Toolz available and the Toyz available. The third column is for (coloured) Brickz. I believe you've already seen Custom Level Quests that call for Brickz via the Megaphone. In Battlez, these are given randomly to improve one's fort defenses.

The values in the Object Rects fields (up/down/left/right) specify the range of an idle Grunt's random wandering. However the chasing AI that green and yellow Gruntz use will cause them to keep following your Grunt indefinitely, after it gets in range defined by the Direction field. If you want your Gruntz to only perform the chase in a small perimeter around the initial position, you need to use a different AI.

Reading this suggestion, I realized that such a level already exists. However, it was missing from the index that I used during my search.

This is an issue that's affected me for a long time as well. I found out it happens when the Gruntz Level Editor window is larger than the level, so making the level bigger is one solution, but you can also reduce the size of the editor's window so that it's just slightly smaller than the level and the scrollbars appear.

Good job! I think you are the first person to record this solution to the Secret Level. (One that does not involve any cheating other than getting the Yoyo for the entrance.)

I think you are right. My original idea behind including the Gunhat might have been the long range required to hit the Bomb Grunt next to the fortress, but one can still reach him with the Spongegun, so it's not really required to pick up the tool to complete the level.

Naturally, the ads are a way for the service creator to earn revenue from their work without you having to pay for it. Here's a tutorial which shows at least a few different ways to download a YouTube video: www.wikihow.com/Download-YouTube-Videos

Ah! It would be worthwhile to discover how to do that in OUR Questz, where Designers have put together Custom Levelz that could easily be considered part of a natural group. I think one could achieve this effect by replacing the WWD files of the standard levels in the Gruntz REZ with custom ones.

I'd suggest keeping the YouTube links that are still valid as a second option anyway.

If you are referring to the video material that Zazor (benadnam) provided, it was his personal decision to remove the videos when he decided to leave the forum. There's no YouTube mechanism to automatically remove videos with a low amount of views.

It would be great if the ratings showed that the difficulty in Standard Levelz is incrementally increasing. Having not played the maps in a long time, I'm not sure how each individual level should be rated, but I'd approximate the overall difficulty range as something like "Very Easy to Medium+".

I believe I had saved the full HTML Walkthrough for "A World of Sweetz" on my old computer back when I was playing it. If you don't have it, I could try to find it the next time I have access to that computer.
