To find your driver files:
1. Right-click on My Computer
2. Select Properties
3. Click on the Hardware tab
4. Click on Device Manager
5. Expand the DVD/CD-Rom tree so that it displays the individual CD-Rom drives.
6. Highlight one of your drives and right-click
7. Select Properties
8. Select the Driver tab
9. Click on Driver Details
And it should display a list of the driver files for that particular drive and the pathname to find it. The pathname for mine is C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS...etc., etc. Yours should be similar.

Well I guess you could say I'm stuck in all the places you mentioned above. I had my toobz step on the blue toggle switch before hestepped on the black 1 switchz and warped. So far so good. Sounds like you avoided the first couple of traps--used your Toobz to get the BS to the south before triggering the RW and leaving the ? switch for later and someone else. Sounds like you fell into the same trap I fell into--took the strawz too soon. You need to make a total of 3 new gruntz in order to finish. As I hinted earlier, you'll pass this way again so why not hold off using the straw. It'll be more useful if you get it somewhere else. So what to do, what to do?? Well, as Gaby suggested, make sure you do all you can do with the first shovel you pick up (pssst, it's a SECRET!). Then after you shoot 3(!) gruntz (2 to arrowz, 3rd to a quivering puddle of goo), find another shovel and use it to find another secret (is there an arrow somewhere that leads nowhere, yet why is it hidden?).

Will you be making a walkthrough for this one cause I am stuck within the first few minutes. I can think of about 3 places where you may be stuck in the first little bit. But before you start moving, you may want to watch to see who takes out whom. Then... The first place you may get stuck is where a secret is activated but you go... nowhere. Well in order to get anywhere with this secret, you will need to put something up in order to have a place to land. Your rubber Duck(ie)z swimming ability & his incredible speed will help you out there (Michael Phelps, watch out!). Is there somewhere else that your Duck can get to that might be useful? The second is a switch (maybe a secret?) that you can get to, buuut....you might be better served by leaving that switch for someone else to get (perhaps someone who's decidedly not your friend?) The third place is somewhere where you get a few toolz and all can be used, but one of them might be more useful being left for a later time. After all, you may just pass this way again. And it would suck if you used the right tool at the wrong time.

Do you mean the two up where the shovelz warped to? I went through those and all the silver timed pyramids. It might worth your while to also investigate Black Pyramidz that are lowered by your Shovelz stepping on a switch but which have no apparent use (i.e., they do not block the path of your grunt so that they need to be lowered in order to progress)

I am stuck. I have my spongez gruntz in the middle of black pyramids, two of which are down. One way is to a lowered bridge where theres a rockz enemy, the other way is a breaking bridge to a black one time with no way off. My other guy is up top where he traded his shovel for a rockz, then for a straw. Hes done all he can here but theres but theres no where to go. Please help Your Spongegun is going to have to wait awhile. There is a lot of work for your Shovelz/Rockz/Strawz to do before you can move your Spongegunz anywhere meaningful. Even then, once your Shovelz/Rockz/Strawz grunt is done with his work, there will be work for another grunt (the one in your oven) to do to make conditions optimal for your Spongegun to go where he needs to.

Brainbuster!!! At least for me, anyway. I had to start over I-don't-how-many times because I exchanged one tool for another much too soon. Maddening!! At any rate--Perfect in 15:45. Thanks, Gaby.

I dont understand....I dug up all four holes thats all there was to get to. Yes, you need to dig up the four holez, but dig up the hole nearest the blue switch first and so on, digging up the last hole with BOT switch last. Then w/o stepping on the BOT switch you just dug up, go step on the blue switch. Something magical happens!

I'm beginning to wonder if this project is simply beyond our capabilities because we're missing another piece of the puzzle. Our REZ file structures and naming are correct. But I think there is something else that we need in order to make it work. You got close with the .ZZZ file and I think it holds the key to at least why we can't our mod to work. Here's why: As you know, the .ZZZ file is the .REZ file that contains the corrected maps for the issues that the patch addresses. Coincidentally, the patch is the last known modification to the game. It occurred to me to check the patch and see if there were more files besides the REZ file. So, I downloaded it again from here and instead of extracting the patch files to the Gruntz folder as normal, I extracted them to MyDesktop. Lo, and behold, there are 3 filez included with the patch: the ZZZ REZ file, a ReadMe file (both of which are known to be in the patch) and[\b][\u] a 2.39 MB[\b] .EXE file which is labeled as version 1,0,1,77. Granted, it is the same size as the 1.0 version, but there may well be something in that file besides changing the version # that allowed the .ZZZ file to work in the game. Or am I barking mad and clearly barking up the wrong tree?

I've had no luck either. For those of us who have installed "The Patch" (which is to say, just about 100% of us), if you look in the Gruntz folder, you will see a file labeled Grunt.ZZZ. Using WinRezLT, I was able to extract that file and determine that those are the updated maps that "The Patch" addresses. And all they are, are WAPWorld files just like our custom level maps. But just creating a .REZ file with the Secret Level maps and installing it into the game folder in a similar manner just doesn't work. I'm beginning to think there is something else that we are missing. Sooooo...I'm beginning to entertain the idea that I(we) may have to insert those maps directly into the GRUNTZ.REZ file (despite WinREZLT's warning to the contrary) to see if that has any effect. I figure the worst it could do is screw up the game to the point where I would have to completely uninstall/reinstall the game. Any thoughtz?

I played this one through tonight and unless there is a different version floating around out there than the one I have, then I have discovered that the Wingz CPS does not have to be satisfied in order to get the Warpstone to the King. Warpstone grunt merely takes a shortcut path over the Wingz CPS to the King. Granted, he'll say something like, "Do I not have the right item?" or "I think I'm lacking something here." or some such. But...

In my project to update and refresh the web site "Gruntz - The Journey Home" I have discovered another SecretLevelTrigger! Yes, according to GPFLith, there is a secret level trigger in each of the 32 Standard levelz. However because of time constraints caused by the rapidly approaching release date for the Game, it was decided to only include the one Secret Level. When the Secret Level Creation project was first proposed, it was by agreement amongst the Gruntzer population at the time to only create 7 new Secret Levelz-- one for each World less the Rocky Roadz World. As to how the project is proceeding, so far as yet I have not been able to get it to work. It appears that I have to obtain a second program to work in conjunction with WinREZ LT in order to successfully mod(ify) a Monolith game-engine based program. Right now, my priorities are kind of headed in other directions what with needing to renovate my house and possibly going back to college (after 20+yrs) and potentially looking for a new job. But STAY TUNED. As I get time to play with WinREZ and the Gruntz game engine (I still have 3 weeks of vacation to use up between now and the end of the year!) I will see if I can get this thing sorted out.

How can Gooberzstraw go to the secret switch he was teleported from the A and is now stuck behind purple pyrimidz? Gauntletz can step on a purple switch but it dose not lower the PPz. I am assuming there is another purple switch on the other side but there are no gruntz on the right side. And still can't get to the P. Remember that in Gruntz, Purple Pyramidz (PP) are generally operated by 2 or more corresponding Purple Switchez (PS). Your gauntletz found one. But there is more than one way to hide something like a PS. So if the PP'z don't go down when your gauntletz stepz on his, look for at least one more. It's probably close by. Dig it?

hi can someone help please. I've done the secret switch, picked up the coins but I can't activate the red warp. I just can't find a way to reach it,access is blocked 'cos of the holes. I'm slowly but surely going mad!!! Use one secret to get to the other. Once you trip the Secret Switch (SS), you can get to the Red Warp (RW). Trip the SS and go get the coins. BUT, before you head back west to the starting area, your mission is to find the hidden RW. Unfortunately for your poor lone grunt, it is a mission that is fraught with danger . In fact, you must subject your grunt to mortal peril in order to carry out your mission. Remember, 8-ballz are lethal to your grunt. And once your grunt steps onto an arrow , he must complete his mission or die trying (sometimes many times ). But a good sense of timing and the ability to step lively will enable your grunt to survive. Good luck and happy hunting!

I am doing this level again and I have forgotten everything. Looked for anwsers here but nobody seems to have had any problems I have resucitated 1 new gruntz with the scroll and made another new two with the goo. I have 4 gruntz altogether...Boomerang, spring, gauntlez and straw. I need 6 more goo to make a shovel and a sponge Tell me please if I give the shovel and the sponge to one of the gruntz I already have and to which one please . Thankl you so much This is a month late so you may have already figured it out, but here goes anyway. There are 2 creation padz--one on the west side and one on the east side. Suck up enough goo to bake a grunt and put him on the west side creation pad. Use your boomerang to make enough goo to bake another grunt (and then some ) and put your second baked grunt on the east side. From there you should be able to figure it out. And be sure to look at the checkpoint padz to see which toolz you need to keep and which you can safely discard. But don't discard them too soon!

I'm not sure how it all works in your countries, but I now have a two week holiday! Then again, maybe I shouldn't brag... I hear America gets a month-long summer holiday. Such long periods of relaxation is simply unheard of where I live (darn it) If you're talking about American schoolchildren or American college students, then the typical summer holiday (vacation to us Yankees) lasts from May/June to August/September depending on when school starts and ends. But don't think that most kids or college students have all that time to lounge around doing nothing. That may be true of the younger kids, but generally a lot of teenagers and college students often work part-time or even full-time jobs during the summer months. It's even worse for adults. As a general rule of thumb, many adult employees get only 1 or 2 weeks of holiday (vacation). And how much you get is often based on length of service with your employer. And even then, if you get 2 or more weeks of holiday, you often can't take it all at once, especially during the summer. Summer is often considered a peak season for many businesses, so employers are reluctant to let their employees take more than a week's vacation at a time, if even then.

To clear up your confusion, the "10 most recent posts" option in your profile gives you the ability to view the last 10 posts that YOU have made. You can alter that number in the box to view the last 5 or the last 20 or whatever. The only way to view new posts that OTHERS have made is like GooRoo said (he answered before I could, darn it ): Go into each board that has the new post indicator (Grunt w/ the STOP sign) and look for threads that have the new post indicator. They will always be at the top just after stickied threads.

Thank you Fried, I had neglected to clean out the folder and when I did and then installed again, the game ran fine. I am a little curious now to see if the standard levels will run. I know I will have to play them from the beginning so . . .I'll do that. It's always fun to go back to "Basic Training." Thanks again. You're welcome. Glad I could help. Have a can of Zap cola. (Hands a can of Zap cola to oldone)

Although I am unfamiliar with the RealArcade and the torrent versions, I think they should be the same as the on CD's. Start the game and either from the Main menu or if you're have a level loaded then from the Game panel (where Pause Game, Save Game, etc. are), select Options. It should open up a window entitled "Game Optionz". Where it says "Voicez", make sure there is a check in the little box on the left, and adjust the volume of the voicez with the slider bar (the more to the right the slider bar is, the louder the voicez are). Down below Voicez is the Music option. If you don't want to hear the music at all, then remove the checkmark from the box, or if you like, you can adjust the volume of the music with the slider bar (all the way to the left will be just like unchecking the box; I keep having adjust mine to the right because I want to hear the music, but for some reason every time I start the game, it little by little adjusts itself back to the left 'til I can't hear it. Then I have reinstall the screen patch. Ugh!).

I hate this, but I'm bringing this post back to life! Arrrrrrgh! Something happened (who knows what) and the final game of the standard levels was literally missing. So was the last movie. Now that doesn't make a bit of sense. The files for the standard levels is(supposed to be) on your hard drive in your Gruntz folder. When you play the game, you only need the disc to start the program. Once the program is running, you can literally take the disc out of the drive and play all day long. OTOH, the movies are on the disc, and you have to have the disc in the drive to play the movies. First question: Prior to your reinstallation of Gruntz, did you uninstall whatever was there first? If not, you may need to uninstall any prior installations of Gruntz before reinstalling the game. I know that was a mouthful but it basically boils down to this: remove any and all Gruntz components first before you try to reinstall the game. However, you may keep the GLE, your Custom folder, and the patchez; they won't hurt anything if left on the system. Second, make sure that you specified the right path on the reinstall. Ofttimes, program have a default directory path, like C:/Program Files/Gruntz where the game installer will put Gruntz unless you tell it otherwise. And if you still have a Gruntz shortcut on your desktop or in your games folder and it is pointing to the old installation and not to the new, it won't work. So if you want it in, say, your Games folder, then when it asks you if you want installed to a certain folder, make sure that directory path reads something like C:/Games or wherever you want it to go. Third, a scratched or dirty disc, or a dirty or worn-out CD-ROM drive can cause all kinds of problems like that. If your disc is in good shape, but you're experiencing problems with other programs that use a CD, then your drive may either be in need of cleaning (they do get dirty!) or the drive itself may be wearing out. Finally, one other thing you could try. If you're using XP, you could try using System Restore and go back to a restore point where you know the game was working and see if it works again. Oh, and check for viruses, too. I had one that infected my Gruntz folder because it was the one that was open and working at the time. The game would start but inevitably would crash for no apparent reason. When I went snooping in the Gruntz folder, I saw files that didn't belong there.
