There's always been one thing that was intriguing me on this forum, especially when I joined it a few years ago. A board called "Level Beta Testing Messages": what is it for? It appears to have some threads in it, but I've never heard that someone was using it. Beta testing always takes place in comments of the level thread or in private messages. This is a question specifically to admins: what's the purpose of this board? Could it be made public to everyone? Or maybe some secrets are held in it, that normal users aren't allowed to see? (just kidding) Nevertheless, I'm quite curious about what could possibly be revealed. Early on, some Designers collaborated on Quest level creation, and that Board was assigned to them for exclusive use. When they completed it, the password was changed, ready for the next pair. Sometimes the participants deleted their thread when they were finished ... sometimes not. That's why some posts remain in it. The Board probably is no longer necessary, and could be removed. Unless some new pair wanted to work together on something.

There is also another problem, how can I play the game without torrenting it? I mean I am against torrenting video games I really am. But the problem is my new computer does not have a CD drive, so I don't think I have a choice but to torrent it. Is there any other way? The video game library on my Windows 10 computer doesn't have it for sale. Does not have a CD drive!?!!! I didn't know anyone was making a computer nowadays that did not have a CD/DVD drive for installations, playing movies (on DVD) or music (on CD in either audio or MP3/4 format)! Your solution would be to purchase an external CD/DVD drive with USB 2 (or 3) connection ability. I have two external CD/DVD drives connected to my PC ... besides the internal one. One external is a 'plain Jane', the other is LightScribe enabled for creating my own labelled CDs and DVDs. The price of external drives (in the United States,at least) is very inexpensive ... $39.95 for a 'plain Jane' and $49.95 for a LightScribe (if you can find one!).

I get a message that the file no longer exists. That's frequently a problem with 'free' hosting sites.

The designer mentioned 3 maps but only 1 got released. What happened to the rest? They were never submitted.

Well, I am giving up on this one, for now. Under Windows 10, I am limitted to 640X480 pixel game play, and ran into the Silver Pyramidz puzzle which is longer than my screen display is wide, and the screen does not scroll with my Grunt ... so he could not follow the rapidly changing path. Besides, it is lunchtime, and I am taking a break for a while. If anyone has information on how I can force dgVoodoo and Windows 10 to cooperate to allow me to use my preferred screen resolution (32 tiles (1024 pixels) wide by 24 tiles (768 pixels) tall), please post the 'cook book' instructions for accomplishing that feat.

All five indices have now been updated for this CL. My two computer deaths (1 resurrection, 1 final) cost me much of the Gruntz data, since my last GruntzExtraz DVD was sadly out of date. Fortunately, the web site was almost current, and I was able to retrieve everything(?) and do what little updating was required.

I found that one way to semi-reliably get past the toyer is to use the other two gruntz and the toyer himself to block the way of the gokart, so that it's stuck going up and down on the right side of the starting area... but yeah, I never figured out what to do after doing that. My personal suggestion would be to consider marking this as a Frustrating level... it does seem to fit the bill with that starting bit, after all. I am just completing the reconstruction of indices for "Separate Wayz" and will come back and make another try at this one when I have verified that everything works as intended on the indices.

Well, I have quickly given up on any attempt to play this quest. Anything that starts out with the need to survive random actions, for which the solver has absolutely no control ... and lasts for close to half a minute before the solver regains control over hir own Gruntz is ... Bjarni-esque. Nothing but cruel and unusual punishment for the solver. The poor Grunt gets a Go-Kart in an area rife with hazards such as Holez and Rolling Rockz, and either rides into a Hole or is squished by the Rolling Rock. I am NOT a lucky individual, so after half a dozen attempts ... and restores after failure ... I quit. Not fun ... especially when if the toyed Grunt ever survives, then the three have to get past the Grunt with Boxing Glovez, while avoiding being punched into a Hole.

So, will the index for Lahyme be released? It's already tested by another user so it should be ready now. What index is it that you think needs to be 'released'? The Designer index works fine, for me, so it must be something else. I will check the other four indices while waiting for your reply.
Edit: Ah! I see! None of the other four indices have been updated. I will do that after posting a reply in another thread.

I don't know if this is asked before. When a quest level is completed, which file stores the information? I would like to unlock all the levels without having to play them again. If you are talking about the 'Standard' questz, all you need are the cheat codes. Custom questz, all we have are the statistics of the puzzle, and replay would be required to find out how it is solved.

This was one of those things that was lost when my computer's hard drive died. Fortunately, the web host contains everything I needed to attempt to play it. The puzzle suffers from an opening flaw, where the screen does not open in a place where the solver's Gruntz are located. It took me three starts of the puzzle before I even managed to establish a SAVE slot with two Gruntz surviving to reach their CheckPoint Switches. And, with all of those Spikez (and no refreshing Zap Cola around), neither of my Gruntz could survive against the enemy Sword Gruntz beyond the CheckPoint Pyramidz. I failed miserably.

Well, Gruntz on Windows 10, even with XP compatibility with Service Pack 3 is flaky. I cleared out the breakables in the area with the enemy Time Bomberz, and when I started for one of the two CheckPoint Switches, the game froze. Any program that establishes its own screen, when it locks up, prevents even task manager from working to end the offending task, and only power down and restart works. So I have given up on playing any Custom Level with large maps. Small maps seem to allow play, but every map larger than 1024X768 I have tried (so far) has locked up on me. I will just release this one based upon the BETA test results, as-is.
I went back and tried again, and got to the point where two rolling Rockz between two closely spaced Arrowz block progress. I tried Gauntlez, but he was squished before even breaking a Rock, much less making it to safety. And Shovel would take even longer to fill in a Hole, so ... I GIVE UP! (Besides, it is time for my wife and I to watch one of the rare television shows we enjoy. )

I worked on Toolz section last time, and this is what swietymiki named as "some work to do in the thread" (I used his efforts to show their types and amounts - thank you!). I try to keep it looking clear and showing true data, even if it's really hard to do so. But if anyone still wants to change anything, just let me know - I believe that the Thread's management is the only obstacle left in the (long) way to Release this level. And also that nothing's to be done (and I'm probably wrong here). So you really have NOT made any changes to the map, and what I have is the correct version?!? I will make my own attempt to play it, now that I have Gruntz in a marginally useful condition to be played under Windows 10. I doubt I will try to actually solve it to completion, but just to determine for myself the accuracy of the difficulty level.

Any chance of a "View the map!" image (not a GruntzEdit .BMP with logic boxes) existing? When I created one for a Battlez map, I did something to prevent any Gruntz from entering the game ... but forget what that was. With Gruntz dropping into the game, and proceeding to move to the attack, the map gets very messy ... and not very accurate.

I wasn't on-line yesterday to see this, and I have a meeting in 25 minutes, so cannot do justice to it until I return home in about 2 hours. Will do as much as possible before my bedtime.

I asked powerfulmind if he's going to send the level to you for release and he said that he'll do it once he finished some work to do in the thread. Although I can still see some issues with the "Toolz" category. I have made no effort (yet) to update the Toolz info. Tomalla's GruntzScrooge program is a BIG help with that!

I currently don't have access to Gruntz atm, so I don't really have an eta If I recall, there was something I wanted to edit with the OP/brickz section with the blue gauntlet breakers. I'll approve of any fitting edits to make that section doable, but I wouldn't be able to make them myself. In this very New Year, I now have the ability to play Gruntz once again. Windows 10 compatibility mode for XP SP3 along with dgVooDoo solves many of the challenges to the game. Annoying to have to switch out ( ) of Gruntz to respond to a SAVE dialog, or to select a custom level to play in the first place, but once a SAVE slot is established, F5 works seamlessly inside Gruntz. Also, within Gruntz, F12 provides a clumsy but usable method to get screen grabs for creation of "View the map!" images. So I am,once again, able to perform more necessary duties to maintain this forum.
